This 1995 custom CJ model (1579) was originally ordered and sold through Mandolin Brothers. The CJ model is Collings’ version of the long scale, scallop-voiced, rosewood Gibson Advanced Jumbo model from the late 1930s. The rare Gibson Advanced Jumbo model is celebrated for having a powerful and solid voice in a group setting. This custom version of the Collings CJ has some upgrade features that include: Gold Waverly tuners, Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, Abalone top edge and soundhole purfling, and a gorgeous shaded top finish treatment. This guitar remains very clean, with only a few small pick scuffs between the pickguard and bridge. A 2″ top center seam separation just below the bridge has been glued. Otherwise the guitar pretty much presents as a brand new instrument. The setup is very easy and the voice is large and full, as one would expect. The case is a Collings hardshell, made by TKL.
