Description

This consignment 1953 Gibson J-45 (Batch Number Y6824 33) is a well played and great sounding example from near the end of the scallop-voiced era for Gibson. The medium grain width Sitka spruce top helps to provide a rich and resonant voice and has only a single repaired crack at the extreme bass-side edge of the lower bout. The medium density Honduras Mahogany back and sides have three repaired cracks in the back. The medium round profile of the Honduras Mahogany neck is quite comfortable and effortless to play. The strip tuners are modern replacements in the vintage style with white buttons. Replacement bone nut and bridge saddle. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard has recently been regretted for clean and easy play. The original pickguard is in fine shape and has no injuries. The original Brazilian rosewood belly-up bridge is in fine shape and has a replacement pin set. An output jack was installed at the endpin. Assorted nicks and dings on the neck, bcd, and sides. Pickwear around the soundhole and below the pickguard. A nice sounding guitar from near the end of the scalloped brace period for Gibson. With light duty hardshell case.
