New Carcassi flatback |
One of my favorite european models, I played these for a
couple of years in 2002-03. Mildly flame figured Maple back,
Plain figured Maple sides and neck, Fine grain Carpathian
Spruce top, Gold Rubner quarter plate tuners, Ebony nut,
fingerboard, tailpiece, and tailpiece saddle. Dimensions
are: Top length 45 3/4", Upper bout width 20 1/2", Middle
bout width 16 1/4", Lower bout width 25 3/4", Depth at neck
6 3/4", Depth at upper bout bend 8 1/2, Depth at tail 9
1/4", String length 42". The long top length and wide middle
bout width allow for a deep, solid voice in the lowest
registers, while the moderate lower bout width allows for
easy movement in the close quarters of a small stage. This
bass has a large balanced voice and is currently strung with
D'Addario Zyex hybrid strings. with cover. |

| New Carcassi 7/8 flatback (102013)
|
One of my favorite models to play, I
used 3 different examples in 2001-2003 when I was gigging
more. Carpathian Maple neck, flame figured sides and
mildly flame figured back, Four piece medium grain
Carpatian Spruce top, Gold rubner single unit tuners,
Beautifully cut italianate scroll, Ebony tailpiece saddle,
tailpiece, fingerboard and nut, Bridge adjusters added as
part of Matt Bohn's complete setup. Dimensions are: String
length 42", Top length 45 3/4", Upper bout width 20 1/2",
Middle bout width 16 1/4", Lower bout width 25 3/4", Depth
at tail 9 1/4", Depth at upper bout bend 8 1/2", Depth at
neck 6 1/4". This bass has a large even voice with
Spirocore orchestra strings. The wide middle bout gives a
larger bass voice and the fairly narrow lower bout allows
easy movement. This is a particularly fine sounding
example. With cover.
