This consignment 1957 Fender Esquire (-17208) comes to the shop from the consigning owner after 30 years in his possession. All of the original parts are present, except for the “ashtray” pickup cover. All wiring contact points are intact and unmolested, and the pots and tone switch move freely. The pencil neck date is 5-57, and the pot code is 304704. The only repair has been to fill the widened nut slots with bone dust and cyanoacrylate glue, then recut for a standard 10-46 rock style string set. The ash body is of medium weight and feels solid and secure on a strap. The finish is free of any cold checking that often happens on Fender guitars from this era. Normal body wear and a couple of small dings on the back near the neck plate. The fingerboard wear spots are clean. There is almost no wear on the back of the neck. One bump on the top corner of the headstock. Replacement rectangular plastic hardshell case. A nice well cared for example of this model.
