Original marketed as a school orchestra model, this good sounding 1942 Kay O-100 (10376) has had a few changes for petter performance, including: Bausch bridge with adjusters, Flexible tail wire instead of the original rigid threaded steel tailpiece attachment, and a German adjustable endpin to replace the heavy and clunky original endpin. With similar specifications to the Kay C series, this bass has a laminated top with spruce outer ply, Laminated maple back and sides with airbrushed “flame” figure, Maple neck with airbrushed flame figure and a slightly fuller profile shape, Kluson tuners, Brazilian rosewood nut, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a slightly thicker dimension that results in a more conventional neck feel, Period Kay Brazilian rosewood tailpiece, Replacement lightweight German endpin, Lacquer finish, Strung with D’Addario Helicore Hybrid strings. DIMENSIONS are: Top length 42 7/8″, Upper bout width 20 3/8″, Middle bout width 15 1/2″, Lower bout width 26 3/8″, Depth at tail 8″, Depth at upper bout corner 7 3/4″, Depth at neck 6 7/8″, String length 41 1/4″. The top and back edges are a little chipped from use. Assorted nicks and dings on the top and back. A responsive and solid feeling old Kay bass with the larger neck and fingerboard shape common to the Orchestra series. With cover.
